Want to Start a Home Based Travel Business.. What Are You Afraid of?

fear-of-failureStarting a network marketing home based business can be fun and exciting.  But, so many people get scared at the thought.

If you’re like most people, you have dreams that have not been realized.

You have debt that grows rather than shrinks.
You have the 9-5 grind you hate but accept and you spend 40 years of your life, and sometimes more, doing that.
You have places you’ve always wanted to go, things to discover and explore, tastes to experience and the older you get, the more you live in regret.

First, identify why these things are happening and you’ll most like find the answer is a lack of time and finances.
Second, if lack of time and finances are the problem, what steps have you take to change that? What are your options?

Another job?  No, that creates a bigger problem.
Entrepreneurship?  Yes. But, with that comes the question of what kind of entrepreneurship.

Creating your own product?
Opening a brick and mortar store?
Buying a franchise?
Marketing another product for a company through network marketing?

The fastest, simplest way to get started is through starting a  Network Marketing Home Based Business, so let’s talk about this in this article.

If you understand that you have all the tax benefits of a business owner, that in itself should be motivation enough to get started.  But I understand that many  people become anxious, fearful and come to a complete halt at the thought of starting an endeavor with network marketing.

What’s mind boggling to me however, is that people will endure a life of doing things they hate and that keep them in bondage, totally unfulfilled and unhappy, even hopeless and depressed rather than exploring deeper into why they may be fearful of something that has the potential to drastically change their life!
So, what are YOU so afraid of?  I love helping people start their own business and I’m often finding myself in this conversation with people.  I wish there was a magic wand that I can wave to remove the fear because it would remove the fog from the lens of the mind and allow the individual to realize their potential.

I’ve listed some of the more common fears people have in starting a network marketing home based business and perhaps you can relate to one or more of them.

1)  I could incur a  big financial loss

I consider a  financial loss something in the $40K above category.  That’s just a bit under the cost of a nice new non-luxury car).  A big financial loss would be more in the 6 figures.  There’s no network marketing companies that I know of that’s going to require any of those kinds of cost.  A high ticket item in direct sales for network marketing can be considered $1,500 to $30,000 and yes, those are out there.  But even at that, it’s not the end of the world if things don’t work out.

So let’s back that amount down even more.  There are many opportunities you can affiliate with for under $500.  Some have monthly auto ship purchases and some do not.  Those are called one-time purchases.  It would be silly to call that kind of money a financial loss if you decided to not go forward.  People spend $500 on QVC stuff they don’t need, on junk food and movies and stuff that just doesn’t matter.

So, financial loss can be crossed off the list.  BAM! No excuse.  This is an excuse for not starting a network marketing home based business.

2.  What if I fail?

So what if you fail!  If you want to learn to ride a bike, would you not hop on?  Or would you sit on the sidelines all your life watching other people ride bikes because then you don’t have to fail and fall.  This is a total mindset issue.  If you think you can, you can.  If you think you can’t, you can’t.  You will create your own reality based on your belief system.   The better question would be to ask yourself what can you do so you don’t fail?  Those are the questions you should be asking.  Unless you want to do the 9-5 grind for the next 40-50 years.

So, “What if I fail?” is crossed off the list.  BAM! Not moving forward for fear of failure is weak.  It’s a wrong belief system and an easy excuse to an underlying deeper root problem.  I would suggest that the underlying problem could be a fear of  what you think other people will think of you.

3.  What are people going to think of me?

Why should you care what others think?  Who are these others?  Family, friends, fellow students, co-workers?  Where are they in their lives?  Are they living their dream lifestyle?  Noooooo.   Their thoughts of you don’t matter.  You should only care about what you’re doing to secure your family’s financial security and fulfilling your goals, dreams, living your passion, making a difference in the lives of others, etc.  This is about YOU.  Not your neighbor, your dad, your best friend, or the tennis coach.   They are not paying your bills.  They are not living your life.  You must live your life.  You get one chance to get it right.  Start living for yourself and not making decisions to do or not do something based on a fear of what they will think.

So, “What will other’s think about me?” is crossed off your list.  BAM! Get excited about living life… this is not about what others think.  It’s about what you think about what you’re doing.

4. Not knowing what to do once you join a network marketing company.

This is why you sponsor shop.  You are not obligated to sign up with the first person you come in contact with in a particular company.  If you find a network marketing company that interests you, sponsor shop.  Look around, find out who’s doing what, see who’s in the game of truly running their business and connect with them.  The sponsor you choose should be glad to  coach you along, refer to you great resources and training materials and connect you with groups, forums, communities where you have the chance to get to know MANY fellow network marketers.  Never put all your focus on one mentor or coach.  Have many!  But, you can definitely join the network marketing company of your choice, with the sponsor of your choice.

I was coaching with a student today and we were talking about sponsor abandonment.  Heck, in today’s society, those who have sponsors that have flown the coop can still thrive and learn and create empires online based on the training available.  It’s not like it was in the old day where you relied heavily on your sponsor for everything.  That is old school.  Today’s entrepreneurs are getting help and building lasting relationships with their sponsors if they are available.  If they are not available, then it’s in no way, shape or form, keeping them back.  There’s a buffet to pick from in terms of what you want to learn, how to implement and rocking and rolling in your business.

Invest in your education and learn what you need to learn to create that lifestyle for you and your family that you so deserve.

So, not knowing where to start is not an issue.  BAM!  Cross that off your list.  It’s an excuse.

Make a list of all the excuses (yes, they are excuses) you can come up with and then have a business coach challenge you to face them.  Or, look in the mirror and face yourself.  You have one life.  Live it to the fullest and understand that if you choose to do the 9-5 grind for 40+ years, it’s a decision you yourself are responsible for.  Our schools and education system teach us how to grow up and become a slave to business owners.  You’d better serve your family and community by becoming a business owner.  Just food for thought.

5. I don’t know if something is a Scam.

Well, it’s easy enough to tell if something is a scam.  You can use your brain, look up to see if the company has leadership, an address, value based products, a track record, goodness.  This is way overused as an excuse.  Sure, there’s shady stuff out there, but you’re smart enough to know the difference.  Put on your professional hat and quit using that as an excuse.

So, worried about scams can be crossed off your list.  BAM!

6.  I don’t have time.

Hmmmm, I super challenge this one.  Here’s why.  People will always (100%) of the time, FIND the time for things they are interested in and desire to do.  I see this all the time.  It’s about prioritizing and the things of the heart always reveals the truth.  I’ve seen this over and over and over.  Someone is ‘too busy’ to do anything else, but then an opportunity to do something comes up and they jump at it.  Until you determine that building a business to reap the rewards for what it can provide for you family, the “I’m too busy” will always be a quick blow off excuse.

So, “I don’t have the time” can be crossed off your list.  BAM!

I would so love to hear from you on your thoughts about fears for not getting started in business.  By no means is this the complete list.  I’d have to write a book in that case.  But these are very everyday most common excuses I encounter.

How can I help you overcome?  How can I help you see that you deserve all of lives beautiful experiences?  Please leave me a Comment and Share  Thanks!

DFI Coastal Travel Helps Ordinary Families Create Their ‘Lifestyle’

Everyone dreams of living a successful lifestyle.

Mom.Kids.LaptopHave you planned out how to create your success lifestyle?

Just like this lady here on the left during our travels, we had out laptops out and the map on the table and we were planning on purpose.

When you plan on purpose for your life, it’s amazing what YOU can accomplish.

When you hear “success Lifestyle” you may have visual images of someone dressed in name-brand clothes traveling the globe without a care in the world, sailing on yachts with all the toys, flying on private airplanes, limos and a line up of expensive luxury vehicles, 3 or 4 gorgeous custom-built homes here and there, vacationing at famous exotic resorts on secluded islands, fine dining and millions of dollars flowing into their bank account on a regular basis.
This is their way of life.  It’s what they do.
In reality, for a select few, sure.  I suppose.  But more and more ordinary families today are discovering the joys and rewards of their own “lives by design”.

Families Are Planning For A “Lifestyle”

How Does One Create A Lifestyle?

Entrepreneurship is one way, and it’s what I’ll be sharing here today.
The way to creating a lifestyle for your family is through entrepreneurship (owning your own business, and more so, doing it from home.

Entrepreneurship is not for everyone.  But for those who truly want freedom and lifestyle, it’s there for the taking.
For those who cannot see themselves in business, a debt free and well planned savings program may be the closest thing you have to achieve a little bit of what you’d like to do but it’s not going to be dream lifestyle.

So What Does “Lifestyle” Look Like For The Ordinary Family?

Well, there’s the ‘before and after’ lifestyle I suppose.  Because ALL have a lifestyle we’re living.

The lifestyle most lead today is one of charging on credit cards for stuff they don’t really need, borrowing money for newer, slicker cars, going further in debt, living paycheck to paycheck, struggling constantly, continuing to stay at poverty  and 30 days to having nothing.  That’s a “way of life” for most families.  They make a conscious or subconscious decision to live that way.

Even most professionals and 6 figure earners with college degrees and fabulous credentials live this way.  (By the way, 6 figures a year . . . . well, that doesn’t go very far.  It used to.  But today, it doesn’t and the “new rich” is looking for 7 figures a year.  They are the younger generation and they’re reaching it in relatively short periods of time.  They recognize that going into debt for a career they don’t want is not the right path for them.  So they opt for entrepreneurship instead.
Since the economy has gone to pot, there’s been a huge influx of people who have answered the wake up call to their true lifestyle reality.   They have been hit with a brick on the head and realize they need to get a handle on their finances or end up on homeless row.
While some families continue to live in denial and are going through the motions in a numb, ‘sweep it under the carpet’ attitude, others genuinely desire a different life and to discover a new way to do things.  They want security and freedom to choose how they spend their time.  They are looking at all their options and entrepreneurship keeps coming up as the only solution.  I’ll show you below as we brainstorm ideas.

I’ve talked to many individuals who have been laid off, and now that they have time on their hands, they can see what a slave they have been to their jobs.  They’d lost their sense of family because there was no time due to work schedules, no vacations, no sleeping in, no hobbies, and spending time doing things they enjoy.   Their lives had revolved around trading time for money and paying monthly bills.
It’s like their purpose in life was to pay bills, . . . work and pay bills, . . . work and pay bills.  Day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year, like zombies.

As these individuals nurture the inner entrepreneur within themselves, they are planning for their future in ways they never have before and have described their “dream lifestyle” in various ways.

They don’t want to go back to work for someone else.  They want to work from home and gain freedom and financial security.

And, at this point in time, they recognize that becoming a skilled entrepreneur is the way to do that.

What does having a lifestyle mean for you?

For some, it means they are debt free and don’t need to consult their bank accounts if they wish to eat out, buy clothes, take a trip, give to charities, etc.
For others, it may mean that Mom and Dad are both home full-time which allows them to be fully engaged in their children’s activities.
It may mean that hobbies are pursued with a passion.
It may mean that relationships are good because nobody is fighting about money.
It may mean there are no more alarm clocks, rushing around in the morning to get ready for work, exchanging time for money, fighting traffic twice a day and coming home exhausted.
Every family has their own idea of dream lifestyle.

How Can An Ordinary Family Create Lifestyle?

Planning, pure and simple.
If “lifestyle” is truly what you desire.  You have any anything and create any lifestyle you want.
It takes commitment, resolve and planning… doing whatever it takes.
Keep in mind I’m not a financial planner or adviser and you should consult with your professional counselors to discover what’s best for you.  Do not take this as legal advise, but rather the use of common sense.
This is based on my own personal experience and those of many I know who had to come to terms with the reality of living life to the fullest.

Here’s some tips to help you get started:

1) Start with accessing your current income/outgo.
Make a list of every penny that goes out.  You may be very surprised at the size of the hole in your boat.
2)  Reduce your spending to just your “must” pay.
Here’s some examples to help you with a reality check.
Examples of “must pays”
*  rent/mortgage
*  loan installments
*  credit card payments
*  insurance
*  food, gas, necessary phone & utilities
Examples of “wants” to do away with, at least until you’ve reached your goals.
* eating out
* regular entertainment (find free stuff to do and spend time with family)
* dry cleaning that’s really not necessary for “dry cleaning”
* maid service
* lawn service
* nail manicure and pedicure
* buying clothes and stuff because it’s on sale
* extra phone and “add ons”
* Movie and TV other than basic
* Magazine subscriptions, newspapers, etc.  (Go online)
* Dry cleaning that doesn’t really have to be dry cleaned.

If you actually tally what you spend in these areas, you may find you can free up a bunch of cash right here.  If for example, you stop every morning on your way to work for a Starbucks Latte’ for $3, that’s $60 a month!

Let’s look at some very common spending habits with two working individuals, working 5 days a week, eating out 12 times a month during the week plus weekend entertainment.

This Is Spending Per Month
$120 – Morning Starbucks ($3 x 2 people x 20 work days)
$280 – Lunch ($7 x 2 people x 20 work days)
$120 – Afternoon soda/coffee/snack ($3 x 2 people x 20 work days)
$200 – Weekend entertainment ($50 x 4 weekends)
$240 – Eating out dinner – weeknight ($10 x 2 people x 3 times a week)
$200 – Stuff that doesn’t matter or you don’t need ___________

$1160  saved, just being aware of the spending.  This can be much higher for a family of 3 or more.

3)  Begin chipping away at your credit cards and putting 10% of your earnings into a savings account

This will allow you to get in front of a necessary purchase rather than charging and borrowing for it.  If an emergency pops up, you can be a cash payer rather than charging more on your credit cards.
What kind of dent can you make in getting out of debt when adding the wasteful spending toward your goal of living a lifestyle?

When adding an additional $1,160 a month toward debt reduction, you can start seeing a difference you can feel good about fairly quickly.

There’s nothing like choosing between dinner and a movie or paying off a credit card.  It’s a great feeling to be out from financial obligations!  There’s freedom in that!  There’s empowerment in that!

4)  Re-assess your situation after you’ve cut out the wasteful spending and paid a few bills off.

Add up your monthly expenses now and compare that to your income.  Here’s what’s amazing.  Most people find that they can now manage their outgo very comfortably and have excess they are putting into savings.  Having extra money doesn’t mean you go out and buy more “stuff”.  It means you’re getting a handle on finances and your goals toward living life on your terms.  You are more and more, having options instead of your back against the wall day in and day out.

Options for Creating Wealth

Now that you are on your way to a better lifestyle, let’s look at some options for creating additional income.
1) Ask your boss for a significant raise. (not likely in this economy)
2) Get a second job. (there goes family and R&R time for chump change)
3) Go back to college and get additional education or a new degree (how much time & money?  What’s the return on that investment?)  Probably not.
4) Start your own business with a brick and mortar shop or franchise ($25,000 – $2 million +)
5) Start your own business from home ($3,000 – $5,000 for something with significant returns)

A Look At Entrepreneurship

Unless it’s something you’re truly not interested in, entrepreneurship can take you to your lifestyle.

With your finances and spending under control, you now have the ability to focus on new ideas and directions for creating wealth.
It’s often a misunderstood industry  for several reasons.  I’ll name a few here:
** Ads claiming to have magic pie-in-the-sky and get rich promises.
** Automated systems that will do all the work for you so you don’t have to

** Bad decision-making when choosing businesses in the first place
** Bad decision on choosing a business partner
** Not knowing how to market your business
** Not choosing a business with a commission structure to support your goals
** Not considering the demand for your product
** Not have the resolve and commitment to troubleshoot and improve
** Not doing personal development to teach you how to be an entrepreneur
** No education about business
Let me ask you this.
Would you go to your bank  and ask for a business loan without having a business plan?  Money to support your business?  Advertising strategies? A sure commitment to your success?

First of all, they will kick you in the hind end out the door and tell you to come back when you are serious.  Secondly, no, you would not do that.  You would say that’s totally irresponsible and down right silly.

Why do you think going into business from home is any different?

If you come into a network marketing company or home based business with that same mindset, you will get the same results as the guy who wants the business loan.  Zero.  Fail.
However, if you have done your due diligence and have partnered with a company and individual who is serious about their success and yours, then you stand a much better chance of getting started.
So, evaluate your mindset, your commitment level, your desire to learn about business and what it takes and be willing to do it, no matter what.  if you can do that, read on.  Otherwise, review your options above and I wish you well in your job.

Then take the next step.

Keep in mind that network marketing opportunities and traditional home based business put you in a position of “affiliate” or “salesman” or “representative” or “distributor“.  You do not own your own business, you just have the rights to market their product and services and receive commissions in exchange for that.

I recommend becoming a Solutions Provider. Meaning, you have solutions for those seeking a home business opportunity.  You have opportunities but also tools, resources and coaching to help them.  You will create multiple streams of income in doing this and should one of the streams of income go out of business, or there’s a change in policy and procedures you cannot agree with, pay plan, etc, and you want out, you are not left back at square one without any income.  You have other income coming in.

There are many opportunities to choose from.
There’s everything from cleaning supplies, to health and nutrition, to beauty, to legal services, to travel club memberships, to personal development courses, to phone services, to shopping malls . . .  everything.
A couple of things to consider:
1)  Make sure the demand for product is there
2) Make sure the pay structure meets your dream lifestyle goals
3) Make sure your belief in the product is there
4) Make sure you read the policies and procedures and can live by them
5) Again, check your commitment level.  There’s work to do.
If your dream lifestyle only requires an additional $1,000 to $3,000 a month, then it won’t be quite as important to find a business that offers a high ticket, highly leveraged opportunity.
If on the other hand, you will require $5,000 – $20,000 – $50,000, even more per month, it will be absolutely necessary to start a business where there’s high demand for the product as well as high ticket commissions and a tremendously leveraged pay-plan.
